Tip-Therm is an early diagnostic instrument for distal symmetric
Polyneuropathy. Applied to test the skin that failure to perceive variances in temperature. It is easy to handle and convenient to use and a simple, reliable and inexpensive testing method for the determination of the disturbed temperature sensation in diabetic neuropathy.
Clinic Application:
Tip-Therm is designed to give the clinician and patients a convenient and easy method of testing. Tip-Therm is made of special polymer and metal alloys. The polymer side feels warmer and the metal alloy side cooler due to the different thermal conductivity property of the materials. The clinician place the two flat surfaces on the patient's foot at irregular intervals while the patient should be keep the eyes closing. If correct answers are given when the clinician asks whether it feels cold or not so cold, it may presume that the patient's temperature perception is functioning well.
Feature:
Regular test with a Tip-Therm can help protect the patient from pain and ulceration in the future and should be a compulsory part of diagnostic protocol for diabetes.
